SheFi is an 8-week course and global community supporting women on their journey to and through Web3. It’s a lifetime community, career launchpad, and place for those who want to contribute the future of the internet, have ownership of their finances, the data they share, and the content they create.
The Founder, Maggie Love, has been educating women since 2020. She starts every class with affirmations that remind us that we can do hard things. Learning something new isn’t easy. And “new” doesn’t even do this justice. It’s like learning a new language. Try asking someone what Web3 is, looking it up online or subscribing to some newsletter (besides the SheFi one *wink*). Maggie breaks this down better than I’ve ever seen. And that is the reason why I can give you a taste of what Web3 is now. Keep reading!
Blockchain
So what is Web3? Well, let’s start off with the definition of a Blockchain, which enables Web3.

Think of banks, which are centralized entities, that record your transactions in their system. This is an example of a ledger.
Centralized systems like banks are managed by one entity, e.g. Wells Fargo, Truist, Chase, etc. Only you and the bank can access the ledger, there’s only one copy of it, and you have to trust that the bank’s ledger is correct (e.g. not being charged for things we didn’t pay for).
A Blockchain then, is decentralized, managed by a network a computers without an intermediary. Let’s say you decided to create an account with a decentralized finance (DeFi) application to send and receive money. Here, you’re not relying on a centralized entity to manage your money. The network isn’t owned by any one person, you can move your money when you want to, the app cannot tell you how much you can withdraw1, and you have the same level trust (or more) that the ledger is accurate, and the app is secure.
This is only ONE use case. There are decentralized social networks, communities, delivery apps, etc etc.
Now let’s move to Web3.
Web3
In the beginning of the web, we could only read the internet. In Web2, we write to the internet e.g. making a blog post, and interact with each other (e.g. social media). With Web3, we own our piece of the internet. It’s collectively owned and operated by a global community of participants.

So Blockchain is the foundation and is the foundation for everything you’ll learn in SheFi moving forward.
Let’s get back to the course.
More on SheFi
Check out some of these live (and recorded) sessions included in SheFi:
- Becoming a Blockchain Baddie
- Socially Devoted to You (Web3 Social)
- What the Fi is DeFi
- Trading Tokens (Decentralized Exchanges)
- I Wanna DAO with Somebody
- I Want my NFTs
- AI Will Survive
In addition to live and recorded classes, we get on chain (on the blockchain), by week two of the course by creating our wallets (where we store NFTS, crypto, tokens). There many quests like this, where we get to learn and DO. To study, we watch recordings, review our notes, and learn with the SheFi studybot. How cool is that?
Plus, our Mighty Networks community is LIVE. We have different chats for wellness, investing, job opportunities and more. There is also always someone to assist you as you complete your quests.

See you in the community!
